Course Information
American Studies II is a 2 semester course required of all 9th grade students. The course is a continuation of the history sequence American Studies I, that began in grade 8. This course covers the time period from 1865 to 1945.
Course Outline/Calendar
Units: (1) Reconstruction and Jim Crow, (2) Gilded Age and Progressive Response (3) The West (4) United States Imperialism and World War I (5) The Roaring Twenties, (6) The Depression and the New Deal, (7) World War II.

a. America-Pathways To The Present
b. Primary source documents provided by instructor.
c. Power Point presentations of textbook material but not limited to textbook.
d. Video and DVD materials.
Classroom Management Procedures
- Be on time.
- Follow the rules established in the student handbook.
- Must have a planner to leave the classroom.
Assessment Plan
1. Students will have a major test covering each unit of study. Also included will be periodic assessments, quizzes, notebook, document-based questions, homework, and projects.
2. There will be a semester final that will count no more than 10% of the total grade.
Grading System Is based on percentages of:
A= 90%-100% C= 70%-79%
B= 80%-89% D= 60%-69%
