Welcome to 4th Grade!
Welcome to my class!
My belief is that all students should be respectful and responsible and feel safe coming into our school. Students need to take responsibility for their learning.
The reading series focuses on fluency, comprehension, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary. Please be sure students are reading at home at least 30 minutes every evening. It is also helpful if you ask them questions about what they read to help them focus on comprehension. Occasionally reading aloud would also help increase their fluency. Besides reading every night, I assign homework four nights a week [Monday-Thursday].
I send the weekly reading assessment score from the previous week home on Mondays. Also, please make sure that planners are getting home and signed. If your son/daughter does not bring home a planner or library book, feel free to bring them back to school to pick it up.
In social studies, students will be working on regions of the country. The District has just adopted a new social studies curriculum. In science, students learn about rocks & minerals, human body, and electricity and magnetism, .
In technology, students learn keyboarding through the program Type to Learn, how to create a spreadsheet, how to use Microsoft Word including inserting clipart into a document, and how to put together a PowerPoint presentation.
If students need some extra math practice on addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, please click on the math practice link. This will give some extra practice on facts.
