McKinley Elementary
McKinley Elementary is located at 1716 Kenwood Ave. in Davenport. The school was built in 1939-40. The Davenport Board of Education applied for and received Public Works Administration money to finance construction of six new elementary schools including McKinley. Approval was received for $1,101,393 PWA funds, and a bond referendum for $1,800, 000 provided additional monies. Students who came to McKinley were from the old neighboring schools which were closed. Four new classrooms were added in the early 1950's, and a wing containing a number of classrooms and a lunchroom were added in the 1970's. Renovations in 2005 relocated the media center and classrooms. (source Davenport Schools museum)  Our building principal is Mrs. Bechen.
