Ryan K. Riewerts has been teaching vocal music in Davenport, Iowa for the past 14 years and has been Director of Choral Activities at Davenport North High School for the past 10 years. He conducts the Concert Chorale, Chamber Singers, Northside Establishment show choir, Men’s chorus, and assists with Chorale, and Varsity Singers and Women’s chorus. His choirs have received many honors and both his concert choir and show choir have been successful in Midwest and National Competitions. Under his direction Northside Establishment has routinely made finals and has received many awards and honors, including being named grand champion at Totino-Grace and Albert Lea, and the past two years at Ft. Madison.
Ryan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa and was very active in theatre as well as vocal music. He has acted in over 30 plays and musicals, and has directed 15 performances. He is also serving as the Artistic Director for the Girl Scouts "Night On Broadway", a musical revue that utilizes area media personalities and high school students to perform various Broadway Music in a united fundraising event for the Girl Scouts. He also completed his masters’ degree in administration at UNI and is excited about the possibilities this may bring.
Ryan was married in December of 2002 to his beautiful wife Mary Beth, who also teaches vocal music in Davenport. They met at the 1989 Iowa All-State music festival, and they are blessed with a beautiful five year-old daughter, Rebekah Kathryn and a tireless two year old son, Reece Kaden.
