Welcome Back Students and Parents!
McKinley Elementary is getting ready for another great school year! Many changes have occurred over the summer months…new teachers, new families, playground resurfaced and the Rock Wall has been installed! There are so many activities scheduled throughout the year for community building and family fun. Please take the time to join PTA and find out how you can make a difference at our school. Also, be sure to fill out the Volunteer Form and return it to the office so you are ready to join in the activities.
The long standing tradition of excellence in education at McKinley will continue. Our instructional focus on developing vocabulary in all content areas using reading or writing activities and mastery of basic math operations will continue. We also concentrate on increasing student engagement, using positive behavior supports and differentiated instruction to motivate and enrich the learning experiences. As partners in your child’s education we encourage communication between home and school. The Thursday folders will remain a weekly opportunity for updates and information. The planners are expected to be signed and returned daily. Feel free to contact us at any time with a concern about your child.
Beginning Wednesday, August 25 and EVERY subsequent Wednesday, dismissal will be at 2:00 pm. Early dismissals allow teachers to engage in professional development in collaborative teams.
The regular school day is 8:30-3:00 PM. The office hours are 7:15 to 3:45, and my assistant, Kathy Moss, and I can be reached at 324-0403. Parents, Teachers and Students make McKinley School the best place to learn.
