Visiting the School

We always welcome parents to visit our wonderful school. Please use the entrance on Kenwood Avenue. During school hours, please sign-in in the office and wear a visitor pass while in the school.

Attendance Procedures

School principals and their designees, in accordance with state law and district policy and guidelines, determine whether or not any specific sutdent absence is excused. Parents/Guardians are legally accountable for their compulsory attendance age student's school absences and cannot excused them without reasonable cause. Proof of an excusable occurrence can be required in all cases, including illness.

When a student is absent from school, the parents/guardians are expected to notify the school within 30 minutes after their child is scheduled to be in class and inform school staff of the reason for the absence. (When a child misses due to illness, parents need to provide two symptoms of that illness in order for the nurse to report back to the Scott County Health Department.) If the absence has not been excused by the parent/guardian and approved by the school administration within two school days after the student's return to school, the absence may become a truancy. A letter will be sent to the parent/guardian after two consecutive days of unexplained absence. Tardies are considered truancies unless appropriately excused. Three unexcused tardies are considered equal to one full day of truancy.
