Course Information American Studies II is a 2-term course required of all 9th grade students. The course is a continuation of the history sequence American Studies I, that began in grade 8. This course covers the time period from 1865 to the end of World War II.
Course Outline/Calendar (1) Reconstruction, (2) Expansion, (3) Change (4) United States Emerges as a World Power, (5) The Twenties, (6) The Depression and the New Deal, (7) World War II. First term begins with chapter 5, Reconstruction and culminates with chapter 11, The Progressive Reform Era. Second term originates with chapter 12, World War I and ends with chapter 18, World War II.

Classroom Management Procedures 1. Students will be expected to follow the guidelines in the student planner as well as any classroom rules set forth by instructor. 2. I expect students to be respectful, have a positive attitude, show kindness and common courtesy, be punctual, and be prepared for class. 3. No water.pop candy or food. 4. Students must have planner to leave the classroom.
Assessment Plan 1. Students will have a major test covering each Unit of study. Also included will be periodic assessments, quizzes, notebook-portfolio, journals, homework, and projects. 2. There will be a semester final that will count no more than 20% of their total grade.
Grading System Is based on percentages of: A= 90%-100% C= 70%-79% B= 80%-89% D= 60%-69%
